From Baby Rearing to Baby Wearing

An increasing number of new and expecting parents with eyes for trendy yet comfortable baby gear are turning to baby wearing. Chances are you’ve seen Hollywood moms like Gisele and Heidi Klum with their children strapped to their chest or back. These wraps not only protect the baby, but can be used to conceal breastfeeding in public.

It’s not just nursing mothers who have jumped on the child wearing bandwagon. Famous fathers, like Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, have also been seen carrying babies in strap-secured wraps. Hollywood parents often use the wraps as a way to conceal the face of their children, as many do not want their young infants photographed by the paparazzi. But that isn’t a common concern of most parents. What most parents love most about these carriers is the design, which allows both of the parent’s hands and arms to move freely, which makes them perfect for running errands, hiking through the park or simply cleaning the house. We all know how hard it can be to get housework done with a baby around, but these wraps allow you to work and nurture at the same time.

Baby wraps protect infants from the sun and are considerably more convenient than lugging a stroller in and out of the car. They are also adjustable, so they can handle children through the toddler stage. Simply strap on your little bundle of joy and take on your list of errands. The child can breastfeed in private as long as he or she has feeding access. Warm and snuggled closely to the parent, your child can sleep, less likely to be interrupted by the hustle and bustle around them. There is added security with child wearing due to the fact it eliminates the fear of kidnapping. And, as the child grows, the accessory also prevents the possibility of the toddler wandering off in a crowd. Babies are generally carried on the parent’s chest, while toddlers are commonly strapped on the back of the parent. Piggy-back rides are now fun and comfortable for both the child and the parent.

It’s easy to see why both children and parents love these wraps. The opportunity to make a fashion statement is an added bonus. With Hollywood parents, like musician Beyonce, wearing babies and toddlers on TMZ and in the tabloids, it’s no surprise that the trend has gone nationwide. Baby wearing proves you don’t have to give up style to be a parent.
